"I create art that is happy, positive and fun and celebrates the real hardworking communities in small cities and towns. Most syndicated comic strips are set in generic locations, but my published comic strips depict the city where the newspaper prints. The Crayon Diary comic strip (in the Register Citizen) takes place in Torrington, Connecticut, the Jurascals comic strip (in McCook Daily Gazette) takes place in McCook, Nebraska and the Jurassicals comic strip (in the Auburn Citizen) takes place in central New York. As an artist in residence for the Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory, I am particularly inspired by the grace, athleticism and beauty of the world of ballet and my focus this year will be to tell a story about The Nutmeg in a unique way.
