Ryan Bingham
Mayor Ryan Bingham announced that he would not be running for the next term of office in order to spend more time with his family. He stepped down in October -- two months before his term was set to end.
Bingham became one of the youngest mayors in Connecticut's history when he was elected in 2005 at the age of 22, defeating incumbent Democrat Owen Quinn.
According to his supporters, after the unexpected win, Bingham became a popular mayor. He was re-elected by a 3-to-1 margin the last time he ran for the seat and last year he became president of the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities -- a lobbying group.

Giulio Romano
Romano, is the Petitioning candidate for mayor.
Candidates quote to the Torrington Community:
"Torrington is a wonderful city that has stagnated over the last decade. It`s time for change now. As a voice for the people, I will honestly endeavor to install and implement bona fide programs that will benefit all citizens of Torrington fairly, so that no group, regardless of language, color, faith, culture, or political affiliation is treated unfairly. My experience is hands-on professionally and academically. I completed a rigorous 5-year training program with the highest Military Finance and Tax Fraud Government agency in Europe, achieving the rank of Commander (Lt. Colonel). During over 20 years career, I investigated national and international banks, auditing government contracts and corporations. Academically, I hold graduate and post graduate degrees in Law and Finance and International Economic Law from both nationally and internationally accredited Universities."
"Torrington needs a mayor with real leadership skills of the highest quality and integrity. As the Independent Candidate for Mayor, I have these skills and knowledge. My work as a high ranking former Treasury Officer and Chief Financial Officer in the Ministry of Economy & Finance and the European Union has prepared me for this difficult task, a task which the other candidates do not possess. The Torrington community is faced with a clear choice -- elect a candidates with more of the same ties, a candidate with questionable business acumen, or a candidate who is a strong leader and true voice for the people. VOTE ROMANO -- VOICE FOR THE PEOPLE!"

Jacque Williams
Jacque Williams, will run as a write-in candidate after several signatures he collected to get his name on the November ballot were found to be ineligible.
Candidates quote to the Torrington Community:
"My interest in running for office in this political cycle is to encourage more people to vote. I am convinced that "we the people" are being taken for granted and the powers that be are not running a constitutionally based gov't anymore. Career politicians, and the two party system are hurting our democratic processes and leaving us "we the people" with fewer choices and more mandates. If we do not begin to get new people and fresher ideas into the public discourse we surely we be left with fewer choices and deteriorating public policy."
"I have worked in the community as a volunteer to help maximize the precious community assets we have in Torrington in an effort to help stimulate our local economy. My work as an arts & culture commissioner has allowed me to resurrect my political instincts and leadership qualities to help Torrington forge its way into the 21st century. I strongly feel that one person can make a difference, and ultimately if one is going to talk the talk then one must be willing to walk the walk. I feel very confident in my ability to inspire, motivate and encourage torrtinians to be the best that we can be. I want to also remind people of who "we the people" are and let our representatives know they work for "we the people" and not vice-versa. It is time for "we the people" to have more of a voice in the public policy debate. People have shared with me their sentiments on how big the job of mayor can be."
"However, I share with these concerned citizens that I have a big heart and the passion, will and vision to tackle the task I am an independent thinker, a non-conformist who believes very strongly that "we the people" know what's best and not career politicians who often times neglect the very individuals that they are duly sworn to protect and serve. I can do this for Torrington, and I can do it for you, us and our future. I humbly ask for your vote on Tuesday Nov 5th as a "write in" candidate for mayor of the fair city of Torrington. Thank you & God bless this great city and our beloved United States of America!"
